Hey guys! I was notified about this thread, and I thought I would step in to defend myself and why I do it.
I don't simply just go around doing remixes of current movies or films, nor will I take requests to do other remixes. The two remixes that I have done, which are "Halo" and the "Terminator" theme, were created because they held a special meaning to myself. Halo is probably one of the best games out there and after getting hammered playing "drink-point" on the legionary mode, I found myself humming the theme and loved it. The Terminator theme was my first inspiration for making my own music.
As I created my music, they simply sat on my computer collecting dust with no one to hear it. My friends didn't share my same musical tastes so showing it them was like throwing pebbles at a statue.
I don't ask people to take my music and put it in their films, nor do I call it "Precomposed Music". Its simply instrumental music that I have created throughout the years, and it is my gift back to the world. Just like all of you guys out there... I'm trying to make my mark on the world, and eventually get that big break everyone dreams about.
So happens, some people see their own stories within the music, and feel it fits perfectly for their project. Its either they will steal it anyway or use it without my permission.
With that in mind, if they like my work, and they want the similar style music for their own project, they'll hire me. and I'll graciously accept the project if I believe enough in it.
lastly. the site is not just music. Its my art, web productions, and my little hub to just about everything on the web.
Thank you Untamed Aggression. I'm glad you like my work.

sorry edgen, i didn't mean any disrespect at all.
i am just a bit of a stickler for these copyright issues, and i would just be wary of broadcasting music illegally.
you have a great website and music, it just seems a shame to tarnish that with remixes that you know full well shouldn't be on your site.
i wish you all the best with your work, and i am sure you will do well....i just felt i needed to warn these filmmakers that using your remixes could be a problem.
my advice would be to remove the remix work and just rely on your original compositions to speak for you.
sorry if my comments made you feel the need to "defend" yourself...but i am sure the composers of the halo theme and the terminator theme might have more of a reason to be upset!
sorry to cause you any grief.....and good luck with your work.

Actually, Marty O'Donnell (original composer) heard my HALO remixes, and gave me the thumbs up. So, because of that, I would assume it would ok for now to have them without getting into serious legal issues? Still no knocking on my door for the copyright police.
My guess is that Brad Fiedel and the T-Crew has heard my terminator track as well. Its been posted all over the Terminator fan boards, official site, amongst other T-related videos.
I suppose I will take them down and only give them out per request only. Maybe that day will come soon if traffic significantly picks up. If anything, at least I'm not like puffy daddy and I have no original tracks to prove my worth. Not to mention, I'm not making money from them and at the same time, I tell people not to use those tracks for their projects.
Anyway, thanks again, lets see what the world brings to me.

well, if you have a nod of approval from the composers then that's ok and i should just keep my big mouth shut!
but if it was me i wouldn't have those tracks available for download, and just have them streaming. (you may have done this already, for some reason i don't seem to be able to get to mp3)
that way no indie film maker is going to use those tracks..i guess that might be when things start getting complicated.

slightly off topic, but Edgen, you can see one of your tracks used here, by me. i hope that one's all strictly legit . im going to be using your stuff in a BIG production (non profit), i'll let you know all about it as soon as i have something to show. i emailed you earlier but i didn't really explain anything, just got your permission.
cheers - perry

Most definitely agreed. I'm more worried about the Terminator theme than the HALO.. But.. then again, if they did use those tracks, it would be in context to their project.. IE.. a Halo Fan Video or like the guys at http://www.terminator-3.co.uk/index2.asp did for their UK Premiere
I guess I just under estimate the brains of some of the people wishing to use the tracks? Surely you would think they would think about copyright laws before hand. So, therefore, its probably a good idea to stream the tracks so that I'm thinking for them
Perry.. Kick *** ! "Tink" and "Arena" was used nicely. Makes me think back to the days I was in the forest roaming and my imagination got the best of me
keep up the fantastic work and keep me posted on your future project!

i think a lot of people just don't understand copyright laws.
this is a post that appeared on here not long back.
I wouldn't know about american law, but in the UK you are allowed to make a copy of music so long as you just make the one, and it is for personal use. e.g. Your friend has the latest Deftones album and you borrow it and make a copy of it, and give your friend his/her copy back then you are within the law
with people giving out advice like this, us musicians are fighting a losing battle!

I've heard you can make one copy as a back up to your own disc. Like if I owned Billy Graham's Bible Readings Volumes 1 through 6, I could make one copy of each volume in case mine were destroyed by fire or a pack of flying monkeys and still be within the law... I don't know if this is the truth at all but I did get it from a pseudo-reliable source.
